ward j. scott II

I was born in Evanston, IL and grew up on the North Shore of Chicago. My musical endeavors started when I was about four, on the piano. I played a variety of instruments throughout the years and began playing bass in order to have a spot in a band that my friends and I had put together, called the Suicidal Kings. We covered a variety of songs and dabbled in writing our own stuff. I also played quite a bit of tenor saxophone back in the day at New Trier High School, which introduced me to a wide spectrum of music, including jazz, blues, and classical. I got together with The Shantee when I went to Denison University, and it has been a great opportunity to develop my musical ear and tastes. We stuck it out for four years at Denison, and I graduated with a degree in Environmental Studies. I now live in Columbus and I enjoy playing music (of course), watching other people play music, teaching people to play music, being active, reading, socializing, doing things outside, and complaining about cold weather.
